Cameron Dantzler – CB

There was a lot to like about how Cameron Dantzler applied himself in difficult circumstances over his rookie season in 2020. The cornerback went through some growing pains, which is not uncommon for players at the position. But overall, the Vikings can be pleased with his level of performance with no real veteran help around him.

That’s not the case this time around. The Vikings acquired Bashaud Breeland, Mackensie Alexander, and Patrick Peterson to significantly strengthen their corner options and provide Dantzler with a stable presence that simply wasn’t there during the previous campaign.

Dantzler hasn’t rested on his laurels this offseason. He’s bulked up considerably and has also been working closely with Super Bowl winner Ryan Clark on his technique in readiness to hit the ground running in 2021.

The former third-round pick has certainly looked the part, according to reports from media in attendance. There is far more energy within Minnesota’s defense following an uncharacteristically bad campaign last year, which Mike Zimmer will not tolerate again.

Considering how bleak the legal issues sound where Jeff Gladney is concerned, Dantzler should see notable reps once again despite the competition for places.
