Now hiring

The news that Jeff Gladney would be indicted on accusations of domestic violence prompted the Minnesota Vikings to move on from the number 31 overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft and fill the spot with another player.

It’s disappointing to see a player with a lot of potentials be released but considering the investment that the team made in him, Minnesota couldn’t allow the reputation of the franchise to be soiled.

His release opens up an opportunity for players like Kris Boyd and Harrison Hand to tighten their grip on a roster spot. Both have shown some flashes over the last few years and would provide depth behind Patrick Peterson, Bashaud Breeland, Cameron Dantzler, and Mackensie Alexander.

There will even be opportunities for other longshots to lock down a roster spot thanks to their efforts in practice on defense or on special teams. They may not have the sports pedigree of Gladney, but teams can’t win a football game without being on the field.
