Can he kick it?
So far, the competition to be the kicker for the Minnesota Vikings this season hasn’t been much of a battle at all. Rookie Riley Patterson hasn’t been able to take the field yet to showcase his skills, leaving Greg Joseph to hold down duties at training camp.
Courtney Cronin shared that Joseph hit a clutch 52-yard field goal to win a drive and the scrimmage when the score was tied 17-17. He continued to be solid on the day, going five-for-six and his only miss being from 47 yards out.
The window is closing on Patterson’s chances to catch up. The small lead that Joseph had at the beginning of training camp continues to get larger with each passing day and it wouldn’t be surprising to see the team make a decision sooner rather than later.
A combination of Andrew DePaola, Britton Colquitt, and Greg Joseph looks to be the trio that is most likely to be on the field for the 2021 NFL season for the Minnesota Vikings unless another transaction is made.
