Natrell Jamerson

Acquiring Natrell Jamerson could be a sneaky good move by the Minnesota Vikings. The defensive back is much better than people give him credit for, even though things haven’t quite gone according to plan throughout his career.

Jamerson was taken in the fifth round by the Green Bay Packers but was cut midway through his rookie campaign. A brief spell with the Houston Texans followed, with the Wisconsin product spending the last two years on the fringes of the Carolina Panthers.

Again, Jamerson has the versatility to line up as a corner or on the backend at safety. This could work in his favor with COVID-19 complications seemingly growing by the day thanks to the Delta variant and in Minnesota’s case, being one of the league’s least vaccinated teams.

There isn’t much to go off in terms of NFL production where Jamerson is concerned. But this could be a low-risk, high reward pickup by the Vikings if they’re looking to bolster their options in the coming weeks.

Jamerson has more upside than most currently sitting on the free-agent market. Getting a shot such as this would only increase the player’s urgency in pursuit of winning a roster spot.
