With Justin Jefferson recovering from his shoulder injury and Adam Thielen sitting out activities today, it left a rather inexperienced group of wide receivers to hold down positions for the Minnesota Vikings on Saturday. This was made even more difficult since Bisi Johnson has been lost for the season with an ACL tear and Dede Westbrook is being brought along slowly during his recovery.

Over on TwinCities.com, Chris Tomasson talked about K.J. Osborn, Ihmir Smith-Marsette, and Chad Beebe taking reps with the first-team offense. While that would be a disastrous starting grouping if the regular season started today, it isn’t terrible to put on the field for training camp.

Of course, K.J. Osborn has been one of the standouts on offense during training camp and has drawn a lot of positive attention so far. Even though he didn’t take an offensive snap last year, he is expected to take on some kind of role in that phase of the game this year.

On the other hand, Chad Beebe has been up and down over the course of his time with the Minnesota Vikings and rookie Smith-Marsette still needs to prove he has improved his concentration when hauling in catches.
