Former All-Pro Minnesota Vikings offensive guard Steve Hutchinson was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame this past weekend.

Back in 2006, the Minnesota Vikings convinced two-time All-Pro left guard Steve Hutchinson to trade in his Seattle Seahawks uniform for some purple and gold threads.

Hutchinson‘s decision to leave the Pacific Northwest and sign with the Vikings turned out to be the best decision he made during his 12 years in the NFL. Who knows what would’ve happened if he didn’t join Minnesota’s roster in 2006?

Luckily for him (and the Vikings), it worked out very well, and it led to him receiving the ultimate honor that every professional football player desires this past Saturday.

During his 12 years in the league, Hutchinson was as dominant of an offensive lineman as there ever was. When his NFL career eventually came to an end in 2013, the former Vikings guard had seven Pro Bowls and five First-Team All-Pro selections to his name.

Five of Hutchinson’s six seasons in Minnesota were spent with Adrian Peterson lining up behind him in the backfield. These two proved to be a lethal combination as Vikings ended up finishing with a top-five rushing attack in three of their five years together.

This past Saturday, Hutchinson was rewarded for all of his efforts in the league when he was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame as part of the 2020 class.

He is the 22nd former member of the Vikings to get a gold jacket and bronze bust in Canton, Ohio. Hutchinson is also the first former Vikings player to be inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame since Randy Moss in 2018.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the former Minnesota All-Pro offensive lineman was forced to wait an extra year before he was able to be officially inducted as part of the 2020 class. But it’s safe to assume that he would say the wait was worth it.
