Osborn’s solid play
K.J. Osborn was a name many Vikings fans had already given up on. The kid was taken in the fifth round in the 2020 NFL Draft to be the team’s primary return man. Osborn ended up being extremely underwhelming in that role and he eventually lost the job to the very players he was brought in to replace in Ameer Abdullah and Chad Beebe.
Osborn never got a sniff at wide receiver in 2020, so the chances of him making Minnesota’s final roster this year when training camp commenced seemed very slim at best.
However, the guy has done nothing but turn heads so far at camp, and he’s been doing it every single practice. Osborn looks like a different player. He’s running precise routes, he’s super quick when coming in and out of his breaks, and he has used his speed to create separation from the defensive backs covering him.
Osborn’s success in training camp this year is due to the work he put in during the offseason. He spent time honing his craft with the likes of Justin Jefferson and Stefon Diggs. He not only mimicked what those two do on the field, but apparently, he also focused on their preparation from a mental standpoint and how they carry themselves.
Osborn is easily one of the biggest surprises from Vikings camp and he could carve himself out a role in the offense this season.
