Zimmer’s demeanor

Mike Zimmer has been a bit of a different man during this year’s training cam. The usually reserved head coach, who rarely heaps praise upon his players, has done the opposite this camp. He has openly heaped love upon Danielle Hunter and Armon Watts to name a few, and that is pretty shocking to see and hear.

Zimmer usually keeps those things away from the media, but this year he hasn’t minced words if he’s been impressed with a player’s performance in drills or overall physical shape and appearance.

Early in camp, Zimmer was seen smiling ear to ear, and that leaves one to believe he feels very good about the players they brought in to improve what was one of the most brutal defenses to watch in the entire NFL last season.

Perhaps Zimmer feels like this is an all-in-season, and one where if the team doesn’t find success, his career in purple could be over, so he might as well say what’s on his mind. Whatever it is, the new vocal and brutally honest (at least to the media) Zimmer has been a surprise and welcome addition to the Vikings.
