Truth or Darrisaw
The Minnesota Vikings will likely be without the services of their rookie offensive tackle for Saturday’s preseason game against the Denver Broncos. Christian Darrisaw has been nursing an injury that has held him out of training camp activities and the team should side with caution and get him more rest before inserting him into the lineup.
Courtney Cronin shared on Twitter that the first-round pick is “probably out” against the horseheads. This means backup Rashod Hill is the likely candidate to fill the hole at left tackle in Week 1 of the preseason.
Mike Zimmer said Christian Darrisaw is “probably out” for Saturday’s preseason opener vs. Denver. Greg Joseph will get also get all of the kicking reps in the first preseason game.

Although everyone would love for the young players to step in and play at a high level, being patient and giving time for nagging injuries to heal is probably the right move with Darrisaw. Getting him some experience would be good, but the long-term health of their investment should be the priority.
Even if it means resting him into the regular season, bringing him along slowly and safely is the smartest way to handle the situation. Meanwhile, Hill will have a tall task ahead of him to prove he can fill in at left tackle and play at a high level.
