The standouts

As a whole, this was an exceptionally disappointing game. The young players who many fans expected to shine in this game failed to impress. Thankfully, some others stepped up and looked good.

Here are five players who stood out the most from Saturday’s preseason game:

  • RB A.J. Rose Jr.: An early injury to Kene Nwangwu forced the Vikings to try a different running back and Rose did not disappoint. He carried the ball 25 times for 100 yards adding one catch for 18 yards. He led the team in both rushing and receiving yards.
  • WR K.J. Osborn: Following up an impressive training camp. Osborn hauled in both his targets for 15 yards. He looks ready to take on a bigger role as a receiver if his number is called this season.
  • CB Kris Boyd: While other corners struggled, Boyd had five tackles on the day with all of them being solo efforts. He added a nice pass breakup on Jerry Jeudy to save a big play from happening.
  • DE Patrick Jones II: Even though no sacks were registered for the Vikings’ defense on Saturday, Jones got pressure on the opposing quarterback on a couple of nice plays and even had a tackle for a loss.
  • Greg Joseph: Joseph only attempted two field goals in this game, but he made both of them. The first came from 34 yards out with the second from 25. He was the only kicker to be active on Saturday and did a solid job performing his duties.
