Britton Colquitt – P

Since there are no other punters on the Vikings’ current roster, technically Britton Colquitt can’t fall down the depth chart. However, Colquitt certainly hurt his chances to remain on Minnesota’s 2021 roster with his performance against the Broncos.

During the exhibition matchup with Denver, Colquitt booted the football four times and averaged 40 yards per punt. But his average certainly doesn’t tell the full story.

Colquitt had two punts that traveled 36 yards or less and both were launched from within the Vikings’ own 30-yard line. For someone that hasn’t had any competition for his job this offseason, his performance against Denver is incredibly unacceptable.

Minnesota seems like they’re willing to give Colquitt a chance to redeem himself this preseason. However, the Vikings are also looking around and bringing punters in to make sure they have a replacement for the veteran lined up this year if needed.

If Colquitt continues to punt like he did against the Broncos, then Minnesota finding someone to replace him is going to happen sooner than later.
