The Minnesota Vikings will be looking for a better effort when they host the Indianapolis Colts on Saturday for a preseason matchup.
Even in the worst-case scenario, Minnesota Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer couldn’t have imagined what took place last Saturday. In his team’s preseason opener against the Denver Broncos, the Vikings were dominated 33-6 and had several areas of the roster exposed.
After the poor effort, Zimmer ran his team through a hard week of practice, and the Vikings are hoping that translates into a better game against the Indianapolis Colts.
The Colts come into Saturday’s game with just as many questions as the Vikings, but for different reasons. Carson Wentz and Quenton Nelson will miss Saturday’s game with foot injuries, and the battle between quarterbacks Sam Ehlinger and Jacob Eason has been one of their most compelling battles in camp.
While Indianapolis won’t have their normal star power on Saturday, it’s still an important game for the Vikings. Minnesota will have their starters play at least a portion of Saturday’s game, but still have plenty of time to look at their depth players that struggled a week ago.
With most of the training camp battles wrapped up, Saturday’s game is more about building confidence and putting good things on tape. So what could happen as the Vikings battle the Colts on Saturday night inside U.S. Bank Stadium?
