Cameron Dantzler – CB

Heading into this year’s training camp, many figured Cameron Dantzler was going to be competing with Bashaud Breeland for a starting role in the Vikings defense. But this hasn’t been the case as Breeland has run away with the competition, if there even was one.

In addition to losing out on a starting job, Dantzler is now being surpassed on the depth chart by Kris Boyd, a backup corner just looking to find a spot on Minnesota’s final roster.

Dantzler is still expected to make the regular-season roster, but he’s likely going to be at the bottom of the cornerback depth chart when the year begins.

It’s possible that another team in need of corner help might see that he’s not being utilized by the Vikings this year and then check to find out how much it would cost to acquire the 2020 third-round draft pick in a trade.

Dantzler’s youth is something that could prevent Minnesota from sending him to another team this year. But if the Vikings don’t think he’s going to eventually turn into a starting cornerback, then they could potentially see what they could get in a trade for him.
