Minnesota Vikings cuts tracker for the final 2021 roster
By Adam Patrick
Which players aren’t going to be a part of the final 53 guys selected to represent the Minnesota Vikings during the upcoming 2021 season?
With the preseason ending for the Minnesota Vikings last Friday, now they have the difficult task to reduce their roster down to 53 players before 3 p.m. CT on Tuesday.
One thing to keep in mind is that the 53 guys that are still on the Vikings roster come Tuesday’s deadline might not end up being the same 53 that are on the team’s roster when they hit the field for their regular-season opener on September 12.
This year certainly feels like one where Minnesota is going to keep a very close eye on the waiver wire. With a need to add more experience to their depth at quarterback, safety, and possibly tight end, the Vikings will be seeing if any of the guys let go this week are worth adding to their 2021 roster.

Sounds like an injury that requires surgery might end Chad Beebe’s tenure with the Vikings this year.
Defensive tackle Hercules Mata’afa, guard Kyle Hinton, cornerback Tye Smith, linebacker Tuf Borland, and tight end Zach Davidson reportedly won’t be remaining on Minnesota’s regular-season roster this year.
The Dru Samia era in purple and gold has reportedly come to an end.
None of these departures are really a surprise, but the Vikings are reportedly moving on from quarterback Jake Browning, offensive guard Dakota Dozier, fullback Jake Bargas, and offensive lineman Zach Bailey.
Minnesota parting ways with a trio of young pass-catchers, some of which could end up on the team’s practice squad this year.
With Irv Smith Jr. needing to miss some time following his meniscus surgery, the Vikings reportedly made a trade on Tuesday to acquire tight end Chris Herndon from the New York Jets.
Safety Luther Kirk and cornerback Parry Nickerson reportedly will not be a part of Minnesota’s final 2021 roster.
The Vikings are only going to have two quarterbacks on their roster apparently as they are reportedly letting go of Nate Stanley in addition to Browning.
Despite an impressive preseason, rookie running back A.J. Rose Jr. is reportedly on his way out of Minnesota.
Keep checking back here for the latest cuts and roster moves made by the Vikings before Tuesday’s deadline.
