Final Vikings 53-man roster projection for the 2021 season
By Adam Carlson
Safeties (4)
- Camryn Bynum
- Josh Metellus
- Harrison Smith
- Xavier Woods
News of a contract extension for Harrison Smith is exciting. The talented safety has been a part of the Minnesota Vikings for many years now and hopefully, this will be enough for him to retire as a member of the team.
Signing Xavier Woods will pay dividends for the Vikings. Minnesota lacked depth at safety heading into this season and got a bargain by bringing in a high-potential player from a bad defense to play next to a star like Harrison Smith.
Josh Metellus returns to be a depth player as well as a special teams contributor. He will be unlikely to see the field on defense unless an injury happens, but he should be valuable as a reserve player.
The potential that Camryn Bynum offers puts him on this roster. Although the rookie hasn’t had much time to convert to safety and still needs some experience, being on this roster should help him grow and develop as he works on special teams.
