Specialists (3)
- Britton Colquitt
- Andrew DePaola
- Greg Joseph
It’s a bit disappointing to see yet another kicker working for the Minnesota Vikings, but now Greg Joseph becomes the man who will be attempting to kick the ball through the uprights. He essentially won the competition in camp because the other kicker got hurt, but winning by default is still winning.
Things got scary for a moment at punter. Britton Colquitt saw the Vikings bring in a punter for a workout after he struggled in the first week of the preseason but he returned and played at a high level. He is an excellent holder and solid on kickoffs, but an average punter.
Andrew DePaola returns to be the long snapper this season. He joined the team during the season last year and held on to the job. Minnesota didn’t really bring in any competition for him, meaning they are likely happy with his services.
It would be nice if this trio of specialists could stick around for a while for the team. It has been a game of musical chairs at these positions for a while and nothing seems to stick. Fingers crossed this combination works out.
