Linebackers (5)

  • Anthony Barr
  • Troy Dye
  • Eric Kendricks
  • Blake Lynch
  • Nick Vigil

What is going on with Anthony Barr? That has to be the question on the mind of many fans. If he is good to go, he should be inserted into the starting lineup with Eric Kendricks and be the basis for the linebacker group.

The Minnesota Vikings will likely be in nickel a lot, leaving a linebacker off the field. Still, one of either Troy Dye, Nick Vigil, or Blake Lynch will get the nod to be the starter even if their snap count is not a large one.

All three of those linebackers will probably see play on special teams. But the big problem will come if Barr is unable to suit up. Although Dye flashed this preseason, Vigil has starting experience, and Lynch made some good plays in the past, it would be hard to trust any of them in a starting role.

Don’t be surprised if the Vikings watch linebacker cuts around the league closely to bring in an experienced player who is a solid tackler. They can’t feel great about their depth in this position and some really good players sometimes get released around this time.
