Final Vikings 53-man roster projection for the 2021 season
By Adam Carlson
Cornerbacks (7)
- Mackensie Alexander
- Kris Boyd
- Bashaud Breeland
- Cameron Dantzler
- Harrison Hand
- Patrick Peterson
- Tye Smith
Last year’s potential got replaced by experience this year. The Minnesota Vikings went out and got future Pro Football Hall of Fame cornerback Patrick Peterson and Super Bowl LIV champion Bashaud Breeland to be their starters.
Cameron Dantzler then moves into a backup role along with Kris Boyd and Harrison Hand, both of which looked good this preseason and were solid last year. Minnesota will face many talented receivers this year, so having a good group of defenders is important.
Mackensie Alexander coming back to the team is a big acquisition because he gives the team flexibility at nickel. He can be used in nearly any spot the team would use a cornerback or replace a linebacker on the field.
Although several of these players are only here through the 2021 NFL season, they should make a big impact on the team. Last year, the defense couldn’t stop a nosebleed and now with a new-look secondary and defensive line, that shouldn’t be an issue.
