Jacob Hollister – TE

The Vikings were super excited about the tight end position going into the new season. A fresh start with a young explosive tight end who was ready to make a huge leap.

Unfortunately, all that will have to wait as Irv Smith Jr. will require knee surgery this week to repair a meniscus injury. This is bad news for Minnesota, but not the worst as there is still potential for Smith to come back at some point this year and be a major contributor. But one thing is certain, he will miss a significant portion of the season.

Even though the Vikings acquired tight end Chris Herndon from the New York Jets in exchange for a fourth-round pick on Tuesday, they could look for one more piece just to allow for flexibility.

Jacob Hollister is a good blocking tight end that would fit in nicely on Minnesota’s running downs and he is a more than capable receiver. He would add experience and depth to the Vikings tight end room.

Honorable Mentions:

The name Larry Fitzgerald is one that is brought up in Vikings’ circles almost every offseason without fail. The Hall-of-Fame wide receiver is a proud Minnesota native and what a fairy-tale ending it would be for him to end his career where it all started when he was just a young boy.

This one is a little more far-fetched but the possibility of the return of Adrian Peterson is mouth-watering. The former MVP would be welcomed with open arms and it would make for a picture-perfect ending to a Hall-of-Fame career.
