3 veteran free agents the Vikings should sign before Week 1
Ha Ha Clinton-Dix – S
The Vikings currently have four safeties on their roster. Future first-ballot Hall-of-Famer Harrison Smith was just rewarded with a new contract extension and Xavier Woods joins Smith as a starter this season.
But there is minimal depth at the position with rookie Camryn Bynum and second-year player Josh Metellus, who played a few snaps for Minnesota last year. If one of the starting safeties gets hurt and has to miss any games, the Vikings could find themselves in a terrible position.
It is likely that Minnesota will look for reinforcements at the safety position, and there are a few notable names still available. One of those names is a player Vikings fans are familiar with, having spent five years with the Green Bay Packers and one season with the Chicago Bears in the NFC North.
Former Second-Team All-Pro safety Ha Ha Clinton-Dix recently became a free agent again and he could offer some much-needed depth for Minnesota this season. His experience would be key if called upon and he could also help guide the younger safeties.
