Player 1: Dalvin Cook – Running Back

It is no secret that the Vikings are a run-first team. They always have been. But can you blame them? When you have arguably the greatest running back of all time in Adrian Peterson, then you replace him with one of the most explosive players in the league, why wouldn’t you utilize such a unique asset?

Running back Dalvin Cook looked like an MVP at points last season. He had his best season as a pro, mainly due to him remaining healthy throughout. Dalvin Cook has 1557 yards rushing last season, along with 361 yards receiving. Cook finished second behind Derrick Henry in yards from scrimmage with 1918 yards and 17 total touchdowns.

The Vikings’ offensive game plan relies heavily on Cook’s ability to run the ball effectively opening up passing lanes and the play-action game for quarterback Kirk Cousins. Cook’s ability to catch out of the backfield also adds a different element to the Vikings’ offense.
