The Minnesota Vikings are kicking off their 2021 regular season with an intriguing matchup against a potentially dangerous Cincinnati Bengals team.

It’s time for the Minnesota Vikings to get serious. Week 1 has arrived and the outcomes of games will now start to matter toward achieving a playoff berth. After a disappointing preseason that saw the team go 0-3, the purple and gold need to get their ducks, ducks, and grey ducks in a row in order to get their first victory of the year.

Minnesota’s opponent in their season opener is the Cincinnati Bengals. Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer is very familiar with this team, as he was the defensive coordinator there from 2008 to 2013 before getting hired by the Vikings.

Last year, the Bengals finished their season with a record of 4-11-1 following an ACL injury to rookie quarterback Joe Burrow that put him on the shelf for the year. Now, healthy and ready for action, Burrow and his supporting cast should test this revamped Vikings defense.

The game is scheduled for a noon kickoff if you’re in the Central time zone, but that didn’t stop the Vikings from getting the drama going early. Earlier today, they shared their #VikingsQuest video teasing the upcoming contest.

Eric Kendricks is the featured athlete on the graphic for the game, which includes the date, time, location, and geographical coordinates for the game (not sure why that information is necessary but okay…).

But it wasn’t just the Vikings getting excited about the game. Other sports teams in Minnesota wished the purple and gold luck on their upcoming game including the Minnesota Wild.

The Lynx shared their excitement about the season as well.

Everyone is excited to see the Minnesota Vikings in action but nobody should be more excited than cornerback Kris Boyd, who is celebrating a birthday as well today.

Minnesota released a list of their inactive players and there weren’t many surprises other than cornerback Cameron Dantzler, who found himself tumbling down the depth chart during training camp and the preseason.
