The Minnesota Vikings couldn’t get a win on the road against the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 1 but there was plenty to learn from the overtime contest.

Week 1 of the 2021 NFL season saw the Minnesota Vikings hit the road to take on the Cincinnati Bengals in a game that needed an extra period of play in order to declare a winner. Sadly, the purple and gold were not on the winning side of the game, losing by a field goal.

Minnesota was favored to win the game thanks to their revamped defense and offense that bolsters several explosive players. However, the team struggled to execute and allowed the Bengals to build a lead.

The Vikings powered back, but it wasn’t enough. They were able to force an overtime period, but a controversial call and a blown defensive assignment allowed the Cincinnati kicker to close the door on Minnesota as time expired.

Even though the Minnesota Vikings lost this game, there were some things that happened during Sunday’s battle that fans and the team should take into account going forward. Let’s take a look at the five biggest takeaways from Week 1’s 24-27 loss!
