Nick Vigil’s Play

The Vikings brought in a lot of new faces for their defense this offseason. The big names were Patrick Peterson, Mackensie Alexander, Dalvin Tomlinson, and Sheldon Richardson. They also signed Xavier Woods and were finally going to see the debut of Michael Pierce who sat out last season due to COVID.

While some of the players mentioned above did play well, the one guy who stood out the most may have been linebacker Nick Vigil. Vigil was a mad man against the Bengals. He was making plays all over the field and was in the Bengals‘ backfield plenty of times. Vigil ended the day with 10 tackles and a sack. His play outshone many Vikings’ stars like Eric Kendricks and Danielle Hunter and that was a pretty shocking thing to witness.

Vigil may have been extra motivated to face his former team and wanted to prove to them that they never should’ve let him go. Maybe that’s true and maybe it isn’t, but with Anthony Barr’s status still up in the air, seeing Vigil step up and have a huge day was definitely a positive on a day that was chock full of negativity.
