Facing an aggressive defense
Head coach Mike Zimmer stated following the loss to the Bengals that Kirk Cousins was holding on to the ball far too long. While that is true, the reason he didn’t have a lot of options is because he didn’t have a pocket to pass out of on many occasions.
Arizona has a very aggressive defense. Last week, Chandler Jones stunned the NFL by recording five sacks and future Hall of Fame defender J.J. Watt will look to feast on the interior linemen of Minnesota.
The Vikings should have made some adjutments following their loss to the Bengals. Shorter drops, rollouts, more shotgun, slants, and screens are likely to be more prevalent for Minnesota than last week, and that could pay big dividends.
Don’t be surprised to see quicker passes to elusive players who can pick up yards after the catch. Guys like Dalvin Cook, Justin Jefferson, and even K.J. Osborn can be threats to take the ball in the open field and do great things with it.
