What are the best bets to make on the Week 2 matchup between the Minnesota Vikings and Arizona Cardinals?

One game into the 2021 season and there are already plenty of questions surrounding the Minnesota Vikings. On Sunday, the Vikings will attempt to provide some answers when they head west to take on a talented Arizona Cardinals team.

Another loss for Minnesota and things could head south quicker than expected. But if the Vikings can pull off a win, then a successful season feels realistic once again.

Even if they fall to the Cardinals on Sunday, Minnesota will still have 15 games to get back on track. However, the Vikings‘ journey back into contention will just be that much harder if they leave the field this weekend with an 0-2 record.

Best Minnesota Vikings bets for Week 2

Bet No. 1

  • Adam Thielen anytime TD score (+110)

A native of Minnesota, Adam Thielen grew up watching Hall of Fame wide receiver Cris Carter suit up for the Vikings each week. Carter found the end zone frequently during his NFL career and one of his former head coaches, Buddy Ryan, made the memorable statement that “all he does is catch touchdowns.”

Well, this statement is beginning to ring true for Thielen. Coming off a year with 14 touchdowns, the Minnesota receiver caught two more last week against the Cincinnati Bengals.

Thielen has actually caught a touchdown in six of his previous eight games dating back to Week 10 of last season. So now, it’s actually become more of a surprise when he doesn’t end up making a trip into the end zone during a matchup.

Bet No. 2

  • Dalvin Cook first touchdown scorer of the game (+450)

This is a little riskier of a wager, but if the Vikings are going to score first on Sunday, Dalvin Cook is likely going to be the guy to punch it in for six.

Last season, Cook scored Minnesota’s first touchdown of a contest in 10 of his 15 appearances. In six of these games, the Vikings running back was the first player from either team to get in the end zone, and eight of these scores happened in the first quarter of a matchup.

One could say Minnesota likes to get their top running back “cooking” early in the game (pun most definitely intended).

Some might view this bet as an easy way to lose money. But Cook scoring first on Sunday is a very legitimate possibility and whoever decides to put some money on him doing so, could end their day with a significant amount of cash.
