Former Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Brandon Zylstra found the end zone for the Carolina Panthers during the early slate of Sunday’s Week 2 games.

After spending one season in the Twin Cities, wide receiver Brandon Zylstra was let go by the Minnesota Vikings prior to the 2019 campaign. It didn’t take long for Zylstra to find a new home in the NFL though as he was claimed off waivers by the Carolina Panthers shortly after his departure from the Vikings.

Now, the former Minnesota receiver is in the middle of his third season with the Panthers, and on Sunday, he finally hauled in his first career touchdown pass since he entered the NFL in 2018.

It was an easy pitch and catch from Carolina quarterback Sam Darnold to Zylstra as the former Vikings receiver had no one around him when the ball hit his hands.

Brandon Zylstra not the only former Minnesota Vikings receiver to catch a touchdown in Week 2

Shortly after Zylstra found the end zone on Sunday, another former Minnesota Vikings wide receiver by the name of Stefon Diggs also caught his first touchdown of the 2021 season.

Similar to Zylstra, there were hardly any defenders around Diggs when he caught the pass in the end zone on Sunday to give the Buffalo Bills an early 14-0 lead over the Miami Dolphins.

Zylstra and Diggs were both teammates in 2018 with a Vikings team that severely underachieved. A year after making it to the NFC Championship, Minnesota wasn’t even able to earn a spot in the playoffs in 2018.

Diggs has obviously experienced success since the Vikings traded him to the Bills last year. But perhaps Zylstra’s touchdown catch on Sunday is a sign of things to come for the native of Spicer, Minnesota.
