The offensive line is figuring it out

Last week was absolutely brutal for the offensive line of the Minnesota Vikings. Despite a myriad of penalties called against them, Kirk Cousins was still sacked three times for 26 yards and Dalvin Cook could only manage 3.1 yards per carry in Week 1.

Week 2 felt like a night and day difference. The Vikings played a mostly clean game against the Cardinals and were able to create large running lanes for Dalvin Cook, getting him six yards per carry on the day.

Expectations were that the line would struggle hugely. Chandler Jones had five sacks in Week 1 and looked to feast on Rashod Hill. That didn’t happen. In fact, Jones was held without a sack on the day even though he had three hits on Cousins.

Minnesota running the ball well and then using play-action and screens was effective in order to keep up with the high-octane Cardinals, but there is still some work to be done before fans will buy into this new-look line.
