Picking up the receiving slack

Close your eyes. Wait. Open them back up again so you can read this. Anyway, tell me who you would have expected to be the team leader in receiving yards for the Minnesota Vikings through the first two weeks of the season.

Most fans would have been quick to say Justin Jefferson or Adam Thielen as the answer to this question, but neither of them currently hold the top spot for receivers heading into Week 3 of the 2021 NFL season.

Instead. K.J. Osborn is leading the way for the receivers, catching 12 of his 15 targets from Kirk Cousins for 167 yards and a touchdown. That beats Jefferson at 136 yards as well as Thielen at 131 yards.

Throughout much of the preseason, the question on many fans’ minds was who would step up to become the WR3 for Minnesota. However, it appears as though Osborn wasn’t content as sitting behind two Vikings superstars.
