What were some big takeaways from the production of Minnesota Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins in Week 2 at the Arizona Cardinals?

It was another heartbreaking defeat for the Minnesota Vikings at the Arizona Cardinals and from a very familiar method. Mike Zimmer’s men turned in a much-improved performance from their Week 1 disaster against the Cincinnati Bengals. Still, a missed 37-yard field goal from Greg Joseph after quarterback Kirk Cousins drove his team to within reasonable scoring distance.

Much has been made of the kicking curse that’s enveloped the Vikings throughout history. Joseph failing to put the ball through the uprights with the game on the line just adds to the long-standing misery within Minnesota’s long-suffering fanbase.

This leaves the Vikings at 0-2 to start the campaign ahead of a tricky home game against the Seattle Seahawks in Week 3. Everyone knows this is now a must-win contest for Minnesota, and if they cannot produce the goods, Zimmer can kiss his chances of a playoff return goodbye.

Cousins and the Vikings did all they could to come away with the upset.

The Cardinals are expected to be among the postseason challengers in 2021. For the signal-caller to perform so well in the face of such imposing opposition is encouraging even if the result didn’t go their way.

With this in mind, here are four big takeaways from the play of Cousins in Week 2 at the Cardinals.
