Cousins couldn’t have done more

We all know that Kirk Cousins has become an easy scapegoat for the Vikings when things aren’t going well. That’s just something the quarterback’s become accustomed to throughout his stint with the organization so far.

However, he couldn’t have done any more on Sunday.

Cousins produced some lofty numbers for the second-straight week and led his team on a final drive that should have finished with a game-winning field goal. What happened next was out of the former Washington star’s hands.

Want further proof? One only has to look at Cousins’ stats at the end of the game.

  • 22/32 completion success (68.75 percent)
  • 244 passing yards
  • 3 touchdowns
  • 0 interceptions
  • 122.4 passer rating
  • 2 rushes for 35 yards

Those who blame Cousins for the Vikings’ latest loss have nothing more than an ax to grind. Had the defense done a better job of stopping Kyler Murray and Greg Joseph made that kick, then this is an entirely different conversation.

There’s still a long way to go – 15 games, to be exact. All hope is not lost for Cousins and the Vikings, although the margin for error is much slimmer after two straight losses to start the season.
