Bashaud Breeland – CB

Bashaud Breeland had a rough game in Week 1 against the Bengals, and things didn’t go much smoother in Week 2. Breeland struggled in coverage and couldn’t even shut down old man A.J. Green, first losing position and then struggling to take him to the ground.

Just like last week, when Breeland gave up a big play, he suddenly became injured and limped off the field, holding his back. These injuries he suffers after getting torched on a play are starting to become quite predictable and apparently just something he does to try to excuse his horrible coverage skills on the football field. Breeland has been so bad he’s currently ranked as the 99th corner in the NFL, according to Pro Football Focus. This performance isn’t what the Vikings thought they were getting when they signed Breeland in July, and he needs to be better.

Late in the game, Breeland was replaced by recently shamed Cameron Dantzler, who looked much better. The Mike Zimmer regime is notorious for waiting too long to make personnel decisions, but after an 0-2 start, Breeland should be the first player on the defense to get yanked.
