Dalvin Cook Injury: Vikings RB reportedly ‘unlikely’ to play vs. Seahawks
By Adam Patrick
Heading into a Week 3 matchup with the Seattle Seahawks, Minnesota Vikings running back Dalvin Cook isn’t expected to play.
When the week first began, it seemed like there was a good chance that Dalvin Cook would suit up for the Minnesota Vikings in their big Week 3 game against the Seattle Seahawks.
But as each day passed, Cook‘s ankle injury prevented him from participating in each of the three practice sessions the Vikings held this week. Despite the Minnesota running back not practicing all week, the team still listed him as questionable for Sunday’s matchup with the Seahawks.
Unfortunately, it doesn’t sound like the Vikings will have Cook out on the field when they attempt to get their first win over Seattle since 2009.
Dalvin Cook Injury: Minnesota Vikings RB not expected to play vs. Seattle Seahawks
Cook is arguably the most important part of Minnesota’s offense, and against a team that was already going to be difficult to defeat in the Seahawks, the talented running back is not expected to play.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter on Sunday, Cook is “unlikely,” to suit up for the Vikings when they attempt to get a win over Russell Wilson and Seattle in Week 3.
Schefter added that there was “a less confident tone,” as each day passed this week regarding the possibility of Cook playing against the Seahawks on Sunday.
If Minnesota’s top running back actually does end up taking the field in Week 3, don’t expect him to be the same workhorse that he typically has been during his NFL career. Cook will “likely be extremely limited,” on Sunday if he plays according to NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport.
Whether Cook is on the field or not against Seattle, we should expect Vikings running back Alexander Mattison to have a much bigger role in the contest. During Minnesota’s Week 5 loss to the Seahawks last season, Mattison rushed for 112 yards on 20 carries while also catching three passes for 24 yards.
