Chris Herndon – TE

It’s a sign of a good game when we have to put a player on the disappointing list who hardly played. That is becoming the issue with Chris Herndon though. The Vikings gave up a fourth-rounder for him before the season and he’s barely had a sniff of the field.

There was always going to be a period of adjustment for Herndon since he came in late. The Vikings acquired him basically at the start of the season, so he was given a bit of a window to pick up the offense before carving out a role in it. While he gets a pass for the first game, and maybe even the second, the veteran should’ve been ready to contribute by Week 3.

Herndon played for just 12 snaps the first couple of weeks and that trend continued in Sunday’s game. He was on the field for a dozen snaps against the Seahawks and didn’t see a single target come his way. When it came to tight ends, Tyler Conklin was the one who saw the targets from Kirk Cousins and he made the most of those opportunities.

The silver lining here is that Herndon is potentially a weapon that remains unused for an offense that isn’t having any issues putting points on the board. The reality is that he probably should’ve begun producing by now and it is worth wondering if he ever will at this point.
