Minnesota’s WRs vs. Cleveland’s pass defense
Rookie corner Greg Newsome has already been ruled out for the Browns, forcing them to turn to Greedy Williams to start opposite Denzel Ward this week. Williams has played on a limited basis this season and he missed last season with an injury. This should be great news for the Vikings heading into the weekend.
Kirk Cousins has done an excellent job of picking his spots and finding the open man this season. A big part of that success has been because of clean pockets and help from K.J. Osborn as Minnesota’s third receiver.
This will be a tough task for the Vikings’ offensive line as they line up across from Myles Garrett, Jadeveon Clowney, and a plethora of other veteran defenders. Garrett has 5.5 sacks on the season with 4.5 of those coming in Week 3. Keeping a clean pocket will be tough but Minnesota has done it so far.
Justin Jefferson and Adam Thielen have been as advertised this season, especially in the red zone. Cousins has confidence in both of them winning from any formation and that has to continue all season.
While this is no disrespect to Williams or any of the other Cleveland cornerbacks, the Vikings should attack each week with the idea that their wide receivers are better than their opponents.
