Minnesota Vikings Week 4 Injury Report: Several questionable vs. Browns
By Adam Carlson
There is a chance the Minnesota Vikings can get some of their injured players back for Week 4 against the Cleveland Browns on Sunday. Oct. 3, 2021.
The schedule for the Minnesota Vikings in 2021 is a brutal one. The two teams who beat the purple and gold so far have a 6-1 record and they are set to take on a 2-1 Cleveland Browns team on Sunday that is extremely dangerous.
If Minnesota wants to defend their home field at U.S. Bank Stadium against Cleveland, they will need to have the best possible players on the field to go head-to-head against Baker Mayfield and company.
Thankfully, the final injury report for the team shows there is a chance some players could return for the team on Sunday. Here is who is on the final injury report for Week 4 according to the official website of the Minnesota Vikings.
Minnesota Vikings
OUT
- Ihmir Smith-Marsette, WR – toe
QUESTIONABLE
- Anthony Barr, LB – knee
- Kris Boyd, CB – hamstring
- Dalvin Cook, RB – ankle
- Michael Pierce, DT – elbow/shoulder
Anthony Barr, Christian Darrisaw, and Harrison Hand were all out last week. This week, Hand and Darrisaw are removed from the injury report entirely while Barr improved to being questionable for the game.
Kris Boyd would be a bit of a loss if he can’t play. While Patrick Peterson has been solid, there have been some huge struggles for Bashaud Breeland and some interesting drama surrounding Cameron Dantzler that makes the status of any corner on Sunday quite interesting.
If Michael Pierce can’t go, Minnesota should be fine for big men in the middle. They have brought in plenty of quality players who can work to slow the run game of the Browns and could use any combination of them in situations and still be effective.
Of course, the most notable name on the list is Dalvin Cook. Although Minnesota was able to beat Seattle without the star running back, having both him and Alexander Mattison available would give the Vikings the best chance of a win.
No players were listed as doubtful for the Vikings.
Cleveland Browns
OUT
- Chris Hubbard, OT – triceps
- Greg Newsome II, CB – calf
QUESTIONABLE
- Sione Takitaki, LB – hamstring
- J.C. Tretter, C – knee
- Jedrick Wills Jr., OT – ankle
J.C. Tretter would likely be a huge loss for the Browns offensive line. If he can’t go, Nick Harris may get the start in his place. That would be a downgrade against a Vikings team who invested heavily in the middle of their defensive line the last two seasons.
The loss of Greg Newsome will be telling. Normally, he would be tasked with taking on one of the opposing team’s top two receivers. That means Adam Thielen or Justin Jefferson could be in for a big day.
No players were listed as doubtful for the Seahawks.
Updates on players declared questionable will be announced leading up to the start of the game on Sunday. However, the more talent that the Minnesota Vikings can have available against the Browns, the better the chance of a win for the purple and gold.
