Vikings Game Sunday: Vikings vs. Lions odds and prediction for Week 5 NFL game
By Adam Patrick
Now with a 1-3 record, the Minnesota Vikings cannot afford to lose their first NFC North matchup of the season in Week 5 against the Detroit Lions.
For fans of the Minnesota Vikings and Detroit Lions, the first four weeks of the 2021 NFL season have certainly been difficult.
After a win in Week 3, things seemed to be getting back on track for the Vikings. But then Minnesota delivered an uninspiring performance this past weekend that resulted in a loss to the Cleveland Browns, and now they’re right back to having a disappointing season.
As for the Lions, they’re still looking for their first win of the 2021 campaign. Detroit came real close to getting a victory in Week 3, but they remained winless thanks to Baltimore Ravens kicker Justin Tucker knocking down a 66-yard game-winning field goal.

Minnesota Vikings vs. Detroit Lions prediction Week 5
With Minnesota favored by eight points, oddsmakers aren’t expecting Detroit to pick up their first win of the season this week inside U.S. Bank Stadium. While the Lions could keep things competitive, the Vikings should be able to walk off the field next Sunday with a 2-3 record.
Kirk Cousins hit a speed bump in last week’s loss to the Browns after getting off to an impressive start this season. But if there was any team for Cousins to get back on track against, it would be Detroit, a team he has never suffered a loss to since he joined Minnesota’s roster in 2018.
