Byron Leftwich

Current RoleOffensive Coordinator, Tampa Bay Buccaneers

With the Bucs off to another impressive start this season, Byron Leftwich is probably going to be someone that has a lot of interest next year from teams in need of a new head coach.

Currently helping Tom Brady extend his career in Tampa Bay, Leftwich has worked with a variety of different quarterbacks during his time as an assistant coach in the NFL including Carson Palmer, Sam Bradford, Josh Rosen, and Jameis Winston.

Since he is someone that spent nine years in the NFL as a signal-caller himself, his ability to get the most out of a team’s quarterback might be better than another assistant that has little to no on-field experience as a passer in the league.

Leftwich might be a good option for the Vikings if they have the desire to transition Kellen Mond or another young passing prospect into their next starting quarterback. His extensive on-field experience is something that not a ton of head coaching candidates have to offer in the NFL, and it’s something that could give him the edge over other possible options.
