Mike Tomlin

Current RoleHead Coach, Pittsburgh Steelers

Some might be wondering how there is even a chance that Mike Tomlin could end up in Minnesota next year. But with the Steelers starting the current season with a 1-3 record and the team not having a playoff win since 2016, there is definitely a possibility that Tomlin’s time with the franchise could come to a close in 2022.

Prior to getting hired by Pittsburgh in 2007, Tomlin spent the 2006 season as the Vikings defensive coordinator. That year, Minnesota’s defense was the best in the NFL when it came to stopping the run and they also ranked eighth in total yards allowed.

Since he left the Vikings, all Tomlin did as the head coach for the Steelers was lead his team to nine playoff appearances, seven division titles, two trips to the Super Bowl, one Vince Lombardi trophy, and zero losing records in the regular season.

If things continue to not go well for Tomlin in Pittsburgh this year, both the head coach and the team might want to move on from each other in 2022. If that ends up being the case and Minnesota is also in need of a new head coach, Tomlin should be the guy at the very top of their list.
