Joe Brady

Current Role: Offensive Coordinator, Carolina Panthers

So far this season, the Panthers are off to a great start with three wins in their first four games. A big part of Carolina’s success has been the ability of offensive coordinator Joe Brady to get the most out of quarterback Sam Darnold.

Darnold was supposed to be the savior for the New York Jets when he entered the NFL in 2018. But things didn’t go as planned for him in New York and the Panthers traded for the 24-year-old quarterback this past offseason.

Through the first four weeks this year, Darnold is averaging almost 300 passing yards per game, while also posting career-highs for completion percentage (67.8), yards per attempt (8.1), passer rating (95.4), and QBR (63.1). Brady has also helped the young quarterback find out that his legs can also be utilized by the offense as Darnold currently leads all signal-callers in the league with five rushing touchdowns.

In addition to what he’s been able to help Darnold accomplish this year, Carolina’s 32-year-old offensive coordinator also has a history with Vikings wide receiver Justin Jefferson.

Brady was the passing game coordinator and wide receivers coach for LSU in 2019 when Jefferson was on the roster and the school ended up winning the National Championship. During their season at LSU together, the Minnesota receiver wound up finishing with 111 catches for 1,540 yards, and 18 touchdowns.
