Two weeks away from a matchup against the Minnesota Vikings, Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott is currently dealing with a calf injury.

After defeating the Carolina Panthers on Sunday, the Minnesota Vikings now have an extra week to prepare for a matchup with Dak Prescott and the Dallas Cowboys in Week 8.

So far this season, the Cowboys are playing like one of the best teams in the NFL as they’ve come away with a win in each of their last five games. A big reason for their success is the performance of Prescott who currently ranks fifth in the league in passing yards, third in passing touchdowns, second in completion percentage, and fourth in passer rating.

During the final play of Dallas’ victory over the New England Patriots on Sunday, Prescott suffered an injury to his right calf. Is this an injury that could prevent the talented quarterback from suiting up against the Vikings in Week 8?

Will Dallas Cowboys QB Dak Prescott play in Week 8 against the Minnesota Vikings?

After undergoing an MRI on Monday, it appears as though the Cowboys will have their starting quarterback on the field when they head to Minnesota in two weeks.

Dallas is reportedly planning for Prescott to play in Week 8 against the Vikings according to the Dallas Morning News’ Michael Gehlken on Monday. Things could change between now and the start of the game, but the chances seem likely that Minnesota will be going up against the Cowboys’ top quarterback in a showdown on Halloween night.

Unfortunately for the Vikings, their injury luck wasn’t as good as it was for Dallas on Monday as Minnesota was forced to put cornerback Patrick Peterson on injured reserve with a hamstring injury.

Peterson has been playing really well during the last few weeks and he would have been a huge help in the Vikings’ efforts to slow down the Cowboys’ high-powered offense. However, Minnesota will now have to figure out a way to contain the Dallas offense in Week 8 without their top corner in the lineup.

With wins in three of their last four games, the Vikings have fought their way back into the hunt for a spot in the NFC playoffs this season. If they can come away with a victory over the Cowboys when they return from their bye in Week 8, then Minnesota earning a spot in the postseason this year will become a much more realistic possibility.
