There is no way the Vikings could have predicted Everson Griffen would return to the team and look like his former self. That said, the veteran pass rusher has seemingly found the fountain of youth in the locker room and has commanded more time on the field each week.

On the other hand, Stephen Weatherly has disappointed upon his return to Minnesota. He played a total of 46 defensive snaps in the first two games of this season but has seen that number fall to 36 total snaps from Week 3 to Week 6.

Teams are always looking for pass rushers, and Weatherly does have back-to-back seasons with three sacks while wearing purple and gold in 2018 and 2019. However, this year he has failed to generate a single sack despite the Vikings being tied for the NFL’s most quarterback takedowns this season.

Weatherly is on a one-year deal in Minnesota and the team has some young, talented players they are hoping to develop. Meanwhile, Danielle Hunter and Everson Griffen should become a priority to lock down for the future.

If the Vikings can get a late-round pick for Weatherly, they should absolutely make that trade.
