Grade – B+

Nick Vigil has been a huge surprise for Vikings’ fans. Many Vikings’ fans didn’t know much about the former Cincinnati Bengal and when he was signed to a one-year deal worth just under $2million, he was expected to be a rotation piece at best.

With Anthony Barr still struggling to get back to full health, Vigil was made a starter from day one and he has not disappointed, especially in the passing game. Vigil has been one of the better linebacker’s in the league when it comes to pass coverage.

Vigil has scored the Vikings’ only defensive touchdown so far this season. He has been reliable and although he’s missed 5 tackles, is pretty dependable when tackling in the open field.

The main issue with Vigil has been in the run game. The Vikings as a whole have struggled in the run game, but Vigil has the lowest PFF grade (36.3) of any player on the defense when it comes to stopping the run.

Otherwise, the Vikings can be very pleased with this signing and for the price, he has certainly outplayed his contract.
