Xavier Woods – S

Grade – A

Xavier Woods signed for the Vikings on a one-year $1.75million deal. The reason it was so little is that the consensus was that he had fallen off or that he was likely “washed up”. That couldn’t have been further from the truth.

Last year, Woods had his worst season, which led to the Cowboys choosing to let him walk away by not re-signing him. This allowed the Vikings to pick him up to add to their defense. But this season, with a fresh start in Minnesota, Woods has been brilliant. His partnership with Harrison Smith has been among the best in the league.

Safety was a position of question for the Vikings when they decided to let Anthony Harris go, but Woods has seamlessly fit and been one of the Vikings’ best players on that side of the ball.

For the price and the production, this has certainly been one of the better free-agent signings of the offseason.
