Kris Boyd – CB

Before the start of the regular season, Vikings cornerback Kris Boyd had a number of impressive moments during his opportunities on the field in training camp and the preseason.

However, Boyd’s performance this summer hasn’t resulted in Minnesota giving him a shot on defense this season.

The third-year corner has appeared in six games for the Vikings, but the majority of his in-game action has been spent on special teams. In fact, Boyd has only been on the field for eight of Minnesota’s defensive snaps this season (two percent).

It’s not like Boyd was going to overtake Patrick Peterson as the Vikings’ No. 1 cornerback this year. But it’s difficult to understand why the Vikings haven’t given him more opportunities on defense this season when guys like Bashaud Breeland and Cameron Dantzler haven’t been exactly blowing people away with their amazing performances.

So to be fair to Boyd, his lack of involvement this year doesn’t really feel like it’s due to him not performing well, it’s more just due to the decision of Minnesota’s coaching staff.
