Who are some former NFL head coaches that could potentially become the next head coach of the Minnesota Vikings if the team moves on from Mike Zimmer?

For the second season in a row, the Minnesota Vikings have a 3-5 record after their first eight games. Unless Mike Zimmer figures out a way to turn things around, the Vikings will likely miss the playoffs for the third time in the last four years.

If that happens, it’s fair to expect Minnesota to make some major changes during the 2022 offseason. Zimmer is among those that could be shown the door if the Vikings are left on the outside of the playoffs once again this year.

If Minnesota ultimately does end up parting ways with Zimmer, they might want to consider replacing him with someone who has already had at least one opportunity to be a head coach in the NFL.

Eight of the last 10 Super Bowl champions were led by head coaches with their second or third team. Even if one eliminates the New England Patriots from the equation, four of the last five non-Patriot teams to win the Super Bowl had a head coach that was on his second or third head coaching opportunity.

So if the Vikings take this route, who are a few former NFL head coaches that the team could hire to be Zimmer’s replacement next year?
