David Shaw (Stanford Head Coach)

It would not be a college candidate list if it did not include Stanford’s David Shaw. Shaw has been linked to NFL gigs for as long as I can remember. Things have turned south for him at Stanford, so his time with the Cardinal may be coming to an end soon. For years Shaw has turned down jobs to stay in college, but now is the time to move.

He is 11-16 over his past three seasons with Stanford after winning at least eight games in each of his first eight seasons with the program. His overall record at Stanford since 2011 is 93-42.

At some point, the lucrative NFL offers will be enough to pull Shaw away before he risks losing his job at Stanford due to his slumping record. With NFL experience already under his belt from over a decade ago, it is not unlikely that Shaw will return.

I think Shaw is an interesting candidate for the Vikings and he is one that makes more sense than some of the other college coaches that are rumored. Pat Fitzgerald, Nick Saban, and Jim Harbaugh seem set on staying at their programs, which Shaw has claimed as well, but his time is looking more and more like it is coming to an end.
