Jimmy Garoppolo (49ers)

Jimmy Garoppolo has been rumored to the Vikings ever since the Kirk Cousins era really started. The two quarterbacks are basically the same player in the eyes of their fanbases but the big difference is that the 49ers have already replaced Jimmy for the future. Trey Lance is breathing down his neck this season.

It is only a matter of time before Garoppolo loses his job and becomes available via trade of free agency. His cap number is going to be massive unless there is a restructure involved so the Vikings would be foolish to bring him aboard as a replacement for Cousins.

Garoppolo is not an upgrade over Cousins and his money is going to cause many of the same problems that Kirk’s has. However, that will not deter the rumors of Jimmy to Minnesota throughout the offseason.

Will the Kyle Shanahan product replace another one of Shanahan’s guys? That’s unlikely but still possible. If this is the direction the Vikings take in the spring, it will set up a long few years as they rebuild the roster.
