Penalties are still a killer

When the Minnesota Vikings play an undisciplined game of football, they really mess it up. This week, it was 10 penalties called against the purple and gold that cost them a total of 118 yards on Sunday.

The most frustrating penalties of the bunch were called on offensive lineman Oli Udoh, who struggled against big Chargers defenders. Although Minnesota was able to overcome some of their penalties thanks to their offense, the defense wasn’t as lucky.

Minnesota gave the Chargers four first downs thanks to their penalties. Giving a usually-excellent offense like Los Angeles’ too many chances can usually lead to a loss, but thankfully that wasn’t the case this week.

Mike Zimmer and the Vikings need to clean up their act a bit more if they hope to be in the playoff picture at the end of the season. If not, they will need to rely on their offense and defense to make big plays…and both those units have been hit-or-miss this season.
