2016 Season: Week 2

  • Vikings – 17
  • Packers – 14

The Vikings broke in their brand new stadium with a win over the Packers on Sunday Night Football. Following the Sam Bradford trade the team was forced to make after the horrific knee injury to Teddy Bridgewater, it seemed like Minnesota was in for a tough first game inside their new home.

However, “Sammy Sleeves” put on a show under the bright lights of primetime, (as quarterbacks who wear No. 8 typically do for the Vikings). He out-dueled Aaron Rodgers and threw for 286-yards and two touchdowns on 22-of-31 passing.

This game was significant because it was also the unofficial breakout game of Stefon Diggs as a star receiver in the NFL as he caught nine passes for 182-yards and a touchdown.

This was a big win for the Vikings and they got the victory without relying on their running game as Adrian Peterson only tallied 19 yards on 12 carries.

Watching this victory on primetime was the perfect way for Minnesota fans to get their hopes up for the 2016 season. The team would crash and burn though in 2016, going 8-8 and missing the playoffs behind abysmal offensive line play, led by T.J. Clemmings.
